Is this acceptable?

From: Straub (cstraub01@snet.net) | Date: 2002-01-08 20:00:51 UTC-05:00
When I find a letterbox I have been stamping a 5" x 3" index card on the clear side. I then can write date found and any other notations I may want to make on the reverse. I would think that hiking through the woods with the same notebook would put quite a bit of wear on the book. When I get home the card goes into a little file box and be looked over at any time just as a book could. The next time I go letterboxing I carry a few new note cards. In this way I keep the stamps of my finds clean and it is much easier to take care of in the woods. I am new to letterboxing so my question is: Is this an acceptable way to record finds? Does any one else do this? Hoping to get some opinions on this before I get into this hobby even more and find I may have been doing it the wrong way......Chuck Straub P4F8

Anyway is acceptable, I heard of someone making a scrapbook with
bits of trail memorabilia and photos of locations along with stamp
image. I used a little memo book and have recently changed to a bound
scetch book from Walden books. I keep it in a large ziploc in my
backpack. The nice thing about this hobby is the open format so if
it suits you enjoy it! Carol- Leader of the pack

Chuck:

I do the exact same thing. I carry around 3x5 cards
stamp one side and write on the other. I then place
them in a photo album that allows you to slide the
picture into the slot, and right behind the stamp I
place the clues. This works for me.

Thanks Snow Angel. I like your idea of the photo album.

Hi Chuck!

I think your system sounds great! Everyone has their own way of
recording their placed and Finds. Some people take photos of the places
they've been to, along next to the stamp image itself in their logbooks.
Some write extensive notes about their experience that day or the hike
itself. Some just stamp it and put the date and place. Whatever is
most valuable to you. There is no wrong way. It's a very individual
thing! Do what suits you personally.

Best regards,

Chuck
You have stumbled on to the method that most of the English letterboxers use.

I love this idea. Since I have just started, (found only 3) then I
think I'll switch to this too. I have a card holder I had gotten from
someone and didn't know what to do with it. Thanks! :-)
